Our Chesterfield Therapists
Alexa Nyktas, MA, LPC-sees ages 16 and older-Virtual in Missouri-in person in New Jersey
Is your child or teen struggling with excessive worry? Have you noticed them seeming more withdrawn, angry, or upset and having difficulty managing their emotions? Have they gone through or are currently going through a difficult transition/challenge in life and having trouble adjusting? Seeing your child or teen struggle can leave you feeling helpless. Seeking help from a therapist may be the best choice to help your child or teen work towards meaningful change, create a better life balance, and facilitate inner peace.
Therapy can be scary for kids and teens, and I do my best to create a safe, non-judgmental, and warm environment, where they can freely express themselves and explore their struggles, as we work towards their goals. I help my clients find effective ways to understand and cope with intense emotions as well as replace maladaptive thought patterns in order to promote positive healing.
I am a nationally certified counselor, a certified trauma professional, as well as am becoming a Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapist. I currently work with ages 10+ based on presenting concerns. My experience includes working with children and adolescents struggling with an array of issues such as anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation/self harm, anger, and self esteem.

Every family is unique and comes with its own set of challenges. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in pre-/marital counseling, relationship issues, divorce, co-parenting issues, family conflict, life transitions, blended family issues, communication issues, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and more. As your partner and team member, I will support and assist in your healing process while providing a safe, judgment-free space.
I am trained in Family Systems therapy, which specifically treats the family as one unit, acknowledging that all individuals’ actions affect each other collectively. As individuals and as families, we are part of more, much larger systems. I am also trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, and Experiential Therapy.
My goal is to help the family reach a place of relationship well-being and fulfillment and encourage growth. I believe that in order to heal the family, it is important for everyone to treat their mental and physical selves. To provide the most optimum level of care, I frequently collaborate with physicians, psychiatrists, nutritionists, and educators.
Session rate: $150 for indiviuals and couples $175

Grief is universal yet utterly unique. Grieving is the biological response to painful and complex life experiences. Do you feel forgetful, scattered, angry, detached, numb, guilty, overwhelmed? These are just a few common grief responses. Whatever you are feeling is authentic to you; it is all real and ok. You are accepted as you are, however you are, in every moment that you are. I believe there is no linear path or timeline to grief, we carry it throughout our entire lives and how we carry it matters. Do people feel it is “time for you to move on” or know what you “should do or feel?” Even well intentioned friends and family can say hurtful things with our society’s limited understanding of how the grieving process works.
My main goal in working with clients in therapy is to help the client move through loss and reduce unnecessary suffering when possible. You know yourself best and it would be my honor and privilege to be fully present and listen to your personal journey. You are not alone. Working with clients to find purpose and meaning for difficult life experiences is a treasured component of my practice. Whether you are experiencing loss, depression, anxiety, transition periods, or are simply stuck and needing some reinvigoration, I am here for you. I work with adolescents, teens, and adults of all ages.
I maintain a judgment free, trauma-informed care environment. Your physical and emotional safety is critically important. All are welcome and worthy of care, compassion, and respect. It is courageous to allow vulnerability to be seen and I appreciate your willingness to deepen your connection with yourself and thereby others.
If you are looking for a companion, someone to sit with and work through your pain, please call me at 314.325.6396 for a free 15 minute consultation or to schedule an appointment. I offer in-person and virtual counseling sessions of 50 to 60 minutes for individuals, minimum 90 minutes for couples. I am not currently in a network with insurance providers. A superbill can be provided upon request.
Session Rates: $150 for individuals & $225 for couples/90 minutes

I love the lyrics “through the fog there is hope in the distance” by Toby Mac. Sometimes it’s easy to find ourselves stuck in the same cycles and patterns of depression and anxiety. It can feel like a dark and hopeless place that we will never see our way through. I am here to remind you that you are not alone on this journey and that there is a future hope for you. With the support and tools that fit your needs you can see your way through these seemingly hopeless times. I work collaboratively with individuals who experience depression, anxiety, traumatic events, substance use and many other co occurring mental health disorders.
We will mindfully work together to identify thoughts, feelings and behaviors that do not support your well being. We will explore your needs and how to get those needs met through self compassion and self love. I utilize CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) informed interventions, EMDR, and CCT (Client Centered Therapy).
I believe you are the expert in your own life! I am so proud of you for being here! As we work together you can be confident that I will meet you with a non judgmental, warm, and compassionate presence. I will support you throughout your healing journey. I look forward to meeting each unique and beautiful human and having the privilege to hear your story.
